Craven County Emergency Operations Center
New Bern, NC
With the construction of a new jail and the closing of the facility built in the early 1980s, Craven County took the opportunity to create a much needed facility for emergency operations in the former incarceration facility.  With its cast in place concrete structure, reinforced masonry walls, and emergency generator, the structure met the basic requirements for governmental usage in the event of a hurricane or other natural or man made emergency.  With this in mind, the county will relocate the offices of emergency management, 911 call center and the county's internet servers upon completion of the renovation.  When not in use as an emergency situation room, the operations center will serve the county as a training facility.
